Aww I'm envious. I like New York so much. Although it does seem a bit cold for a parade. I have never actually seen the Macy's Parade. It's one of those things I learned about from the show "Friends" :p
I would be interested to know any sources of good bread. I am always on the hunt for it, myself. I really dislike walking through those grocery store bread aisles you describe, because of the smell.
Amusingly, I can guesstimate what day you took that Washington monument picture, based on how much scaffolding is there :p I'm going to say, the Monday before last.
