Went back to The Mall yesterday as the weather was pleasant (it is raining today). It was very nice. Scott and I spent a short while in The National History Museum and then went to McDonalds for lunch in the Air and Space Museum. Then we walked around the lagoon as he had yet to see the Jefferson Memorial. We didn't know the FDR memorial was around the lagoon too and we hit it by dusk and it was so pretty with all the little waterfalls and the lights. That was a nice surprise.

Jefferson Memorial.

Me! I was there!

FDR Memorial. Well. A small part of it. It is quite long... It just kept going..

The sky wasn't anything like this colour... It was more purple and pink. Still pretty!

Lots of squirrels around. This was the second one to say hello. Unfortunately I mostly got photos of squirrel tails...

Tonight I will be going to the opera. The Magic Flute (apparently performed in English.) This will be interesting!

In other news.. Back in Denmark:

There was a big storm yesterday. D and E are currently staying with our neighbour and trying to figure out what to do about those trees... They are right up against the back of the house (these are the trees I was afraid of during the previous storm that took down the other trees). Just wild! Crap!

Oh yikes, those trees :o That's going to be a huge pain to deal with. Judging from the things I've been seeing on my FB feed, it was stormy across large areas of Europe. My advisor got stuck in Denmark after some conference because of the weather, also.

I like your dusk pictures :) It really was a nice day. I left for work at 6 something and didn't even need a heavy jacket. Nice.

Did you meet any of the black squirrels yet?

The tress have been dealt with; or the fallen ones at least. They were told the three remaining has to come down before the next storm or they'll go (which we knew with all the roots being messed up). D and E are back in the house - with a somewhat crooked kitchen!

It was a pleasant day! I brought a light jacket and a winter coat here and that day the light jacket was definitely enough. The slight breeze there was was warm. It's cold again today. :/

Black squirrels... See, I'm not sure. I think we saw one last time but I might be misremembering as Scott was talking about black squirrels a lot. Also, there are loads of squirrels in the garden here and one of those could have been black... I'm not sure whether I've seen one, whether Scott has seen one, or whether we have just discussed black squirrels so much I'm just imagining things. The whole black squirrel deal has become confusing to me..

Crap, this tree situation is not good at all. At least the house still stands.

Awesome picture of that squirrel though.

That squirrel was nice and sat still for long enough... They were very busy!

The trees have come down. Our national rescue service together with some local entrepreneurs came to our aid! I can't wait to get back and see what it looks like. It must have been terrifying. If you could open the kitchen window and reach out (it opens but not enough to stick an arm through) you'd be able to touch the trunk of two of those trees. They were THAT close.

Oh, I knew the storm was bad in Denmark but that's just such a crappy situation. To be honest, every time there is a big storm my parents fear the trees behind their house will fall like that.

The FDR memorial looks pretty. How was the Magic Flute? I love the story, but I've never seen/heard it live.

Whoa, I'm behind on LJ. Fantastic photos. I'm sorry about the trees.
